Curation

My curatorial work amplifies voices of people of color and draws on my expertise in Black identity, Black popular culture, and Black music studies. Examples of my work includes a four-subject exhibition for Black History Month, and a pictorial exhibition exploring Black identity through Vibe magazine covers.

Content Devleopment

I specialize in content development for exhibition scripts, social media, digital initiatives, and museum interactives. At the National Museum of African American Music, I collaborated with curators, educators, and exhibition designers to create content for various projects that embodied the Black experience in American Culture, including research for object labels, and editing and proof-reading exhibition scripts. While at the Browne Popular Culture Library, I wrote social media posts about Black culture for Black History Month, creating two social media campaigns: Black Love Wednesday and Black Culture Producer Thursday. In addition, I wrote social media posts about women’s contributions for Women’s History Month.

Read my social media posts about Beverly Jenkins, “What’s Happening,” Moonlight, and Anna Pauline “Pauli” Murray.

Read my guest blog, “Jazz Music During the 1920s”.

Read my social media posts on Gloria Steinem, “The girls. Some gang.”, Angharad Valdivia, Akiko Kawano Jones, and Janet "Jenny" Quinn

Research

Scholarship and research are at the heart of my practice. At the Browne Popular Culture Library, I initiated and developed a project to update a finding aid for 20th Century American Life to include Black popular culture. My research experience also includes finding, acquiring, and organizing digital media assets for six introductory films, an interactive music history timeline, and three interactive tables for the National Museum of African American Music.
